North Star Baroque

A note from Anna Pearlman, Music Director:

I'm excited to announce North Star Baroque's second season.  Our October concert features Vivaldi's spectacular Concerto for Four Violins and Corelli's popular Christmas Concerto.  Two world-class soloists, baritone Aaron Engebreth and soprano Emily Siar, then join us in works of Bach and Vivaldi.

In March, we bring back Venezuelan recorder virtuoso Aldo Abreu to perform alongside North Star Baroque's own flutist Nicole Rabata in an exciting Telemann concerto that ends with a wild Polish dance.  Also on the program, soloists from our ensemble perform two of Bach's greatest concertos, the Concerto for Two Violins and the Harpsichord Concerto in D minor, as well as a beautiful suite from Handel's Water Music.

For our season finale in May, we bring back baritone David Kravitz, who made such a hit this past spring as the comical father in Bach's Coffee Cantata.  This time he will be joined by Emily Siar in Pergolesi's La serva padrona (The Maid turned Mistress), the story of a maid who conspires to marry her master.  It's a one-act comedy that changed the history of music.  Also on the program, North Star Baroque's cellist, Fred Edelen, will perform the virtuosic cello concerto by Bach's son, Carl Philipp Emanuel.  Brilliant works by Handel and Rameau will round out the program.

I invite you to join us for an exhilarating season of great music!
