About North Star Baroque

Welcome to North Star Baroque, Portland, Maine’s period-instrument orchestra dedicated to the vibrant and captivating world of Baroque music. Under the inspired direction of Anna Pearlman, a distinguished musician and daughter of the renowned Martin Pearlman of Boston Baroque, we bring our audiences historically informed performances and exciting interpretations of the music of Bach, Handel, Vivaldi and others.

We invite you to join us as we celebrate the timeless beauty of this cherished repertoire.

Music Director

Anna Pearlman is the founder and Music Director of North Star Baroque. Raised in the greater Boston area, she was immersed in Baroque music from an early age.  She later participated in Harvard University’s Baroque Orchestra and the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute. Her teachers include Janet Packer, Ronald Lantz of the Portland String Quartet, Robert Lehmann, Sarah Darling, and her father, Martin Pearlman, of Boston Baroque.

Anna performs throughout New England on both modern and Baroque violin, as well as on modern ​viola. She resides in Gorham, Maine.
